Depression – Help with Negative Feelings
It is a fact that we at no time got any coaching in school how to handle our feelings and emotions. We at no time took any lessons on solving emotional states like despondency, unhappiness, hopelessness, emptiness and shame. We at no time instructed how to flourish emotionally. For this reason, a lot of us can experience depressive feelings that could suspend around us for a long time and even years.

For instance, our natural response to depressive feelings is most likely an attempt to smother and inhibit them. None of us likes to feel wrong so we try our best to keep off or reject these emotions. The first approach is to numb feelings, which is commonly drugs or drink and eat excessively. The second approach is Projection or Externalizing. This might mean boot the poor dog, launch an attack on others and blast our awful feelings to those close to. The third approach is Channel Change, usually taking a walk, watching TV or calling a friend.
Anesthetizing our feelings it speaks for itself. It is destined to fail and could create additional health problems. Projecting doesn’t work either, no for long-term, anyway. Shouting at those close to us or booting the dog might make us feeling better for an instant, certainly, but it does not in reality doesn’t do much about the causative awful emotion. In many instances it may cause trauma to our human relationships especially with those close to us.
A sounder fashion to address negative emotions and feelings is by modifying the means they are channeled. We all need to find out how to handle our temperament and swinging emotion, or we could finish up agitated and overly stressed. So when we feel lousy and take a quick run around the block or go to the picture show, we assist in lifting up our challenging state of mood without causing any hurt. Shifting the channel of bad feelings is a beneficial thing to master and do with skillfulness.
Regrettably, changing the channel could as well fail to solve the inherent emotional issues. If you are feeling bad for your resent break up with your partner and you go to the movies, it is likely that once you comeback home the lonesome and dreaded feelings might return. The trouble with using all three methods above is that negative emotions generally comeback to harass us.
