For the majority of people however, the most probable cause of headaches is just plain old stress. People who go through stress in their lives can get headaches from their increased tension. Stress can be caused by numerous things including work-related stress and/or family-related stress. Although it is not always possible to eliminate the cause of the stress it is frequently possible to relieve muscle tension and pain that arises from stress.

Ways to help reduce stress include, Regular physical exercise, lying down and relaxing in a quiet dark room, biofeedback training (as explained above and massage of the upper back, neck and head (temporal region) to help relieve tension and muscle spasm.
